Campus Ministry

Living the Charism & Mission of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary... 'Fire ignites fire! A burning torch lights others and he who has found Jesus Christ takes nothing more at heart than to make him known to the whole world!' -Marie Rivier

Mother Rivier gathered people together to pray, giving faith instructions, inviting the people to be faithful to Jesus Christ. It is my privilege to continue the charism of Marie Rivier through; faith study groups, one-on-one ministry and leadership training, large group meetings/teachings, retreats, conferences, opportunities for overseas and domestic mission projects.

I work for Catholic Christian Outreach (CCO) as a university student movement dedicated to evangelization. It is within this context that I have the opportunity to challenge students to live in the fullness of the Catholic faith, with a strong emphasis on becoming leaders in the renewal of the world.

We proclaim Christ to the students, equip them to be mature Christians, then commission them to proclaim the gospel to others.

Building relationships

It is challenging work, and it is certainly in the spirit of our Foundress, Blessed Marie Rivier, who established the Congregation with the specific desire to make Jesus Christ known and loved.

The greatest part of my campus ministry is having the opportunity to build relationships with the young people. It is amazing to witness God transforming their lives as they open themselves to prayer, the sacraments and scripture. I watch in awe and see the grandeur of God.

The Beatitudes mark the path of the following of Christ and the road to spiritual freedom and maturity.

The Beatitudes speak of truth and goodness, of grace and freedom, which are necessary to enter into Christ's kingdom. Let us be courageous apostles of that Kingdom!
-John Paul II

Teaching & Education

As daughters of Marie Rivier, we are committed to the Christian education of youth. Our aim is to make Jesus Christ known & loved by all. The school & classroom provides community setting necessary for teaching the Christian way of life. Together we pray, break open the Word, and practice the Christian values of love, forgiveness, patience, and caring.

Through the daily activities, we help students be aware of the presence of God in their lives, and help them develop a personal relationship with Christ. Together we express our life of faith in a Christ-oriented environment in the spirit of Marie Rivier and strive to live by Christian moral, cultural, and spiritual values. The cultural and creative arts have always been considered an important part of the education we provide.

The sisters service and teaching to students includes:
Music: piano, organ, string instruments, handbells, voice, church and school choirs.
Performing arts: drama, operettas, recitals, oratory contests, festivals
Creative arts: painting, sculpture, wheat weaving, needle arts, mosiacs

Our work will help youth grow into the fullness of who they are and become true disciples of Christ - gospel leaven in the world - each according to his/her vocation. And every day brings new awareness and service.

Marion Aquatics

Marion Aquatics, a pool facility owned and operated by the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary, offers many services to the city of Prince Albert. Our mission is to promote programs structured to provide a learning atmosphere of fun and enjoyment, de-emphasizing the principle of failure and recognizing the potential of each individual.

Our patrons are treated with due respect and staff members take personal pride in their work, providing a vital contribution to the physical and moral welfare of all.

This project is a reflection of the mission of our Congregation, 'To make Jesus Christ known and loved,' as we encourage our teenage instructors to develop their full potential, to serve the patrons to the best of their ability, and to strive to improve in all aspects by the training they continue receiving at the facility. They are encouraged to do volunteer service, to go the extra mile and not count the cost. We welcome infants to seniors, and provide an attractive and clean facility in which our patrons feel respected and appreciated. We listen to many an adult or teenager who needs to share a personal problem or concern.

Development of the faith of our instructors, volunteers, and patrons is our goal: faith in themselves, faith in God even if religion is not mentioned, as all denominations are accepted and treated equally. Through actions of kindness, understanding and love, we teach the value of being a good Christian. Who we are in our apostolic nature shines postively on what we do.
