The Newly Elected General Superior, Mother Angele Dion

Share

madre1On October 4th, at 9:30 a.m. we (the delegates) gathered in Rome for the Eucharist, we felt united to the large family of the Presentation of Mary. We prayed the Holy Spirit, He who is promise, Spirit for the future!

After the Mass, the assembly walks out in procession, singing the Veni Creator, leading the members of the Chapter to the capitular room for the election. During the election, the community returned to the chapel to pray.

And the Capitulants returned in procession. The newly elected Superior general, Mother Angèle Dion is last to walk in, followed by the President, Mgr Despierre. Everyone saw and thanked God with Alleluias! After a moment of adoration, the President informs the sisters who were not capitulants of the results and names the newly elected Superior general.

MADREANGELE1_elected_We thank God with the heartfelt singing of the te Deum.

And then, Sister Lorraine Trottier gave our newly elected Superior general, the cross of Marie Rivier left there in chapel the night before, saying:

May the cross of Jesus Christ be for you a treasure of grace!   All the sisters present came forward to kiss the cross of Marie Rivier as a sign of obedience.  Kissing the cross signifies that they welcome in faith the newly elected Superior as representing Jesus Christ Himself, for them, right now.
