Pig Roast at the Sisters Provincial House in Prince Albert

For our annu
al "Employees Gratitude Night," on Tuesday, June 14th, the Sisters and staff, gathered on the grounds of the Provincial House for a Pig Roast. While waiting for the main course (roast pig!) to make its grand entrance, the children played games organized by the resident students, while the adults sat visiting and enjoying the sun.
It had rained earlier in the afternoon, but by 5, the sun was ablaze; no bugs, no wind, no mosquitoes!!! Soon, the pig was carried in sporting a straw hat and sunglasses, an apple in its grinning mouth, and its flanks decorated with pineapple slices and cherries ... an imposing sight for hungry guests! Besides the pork, a variety of salads, peroghies, cabbage rolls, baked potatoes, and condiments loaded the table.
Drinks and ice cream rounded off the meal. It was a delight to see the babies befriend each other, the tots playing with the balloons scattered all over the lawn, and everyone enjoying the opportunity to visit and renew acquaintance. A couple of hours later, as some of the guests were beginning to pack up, rather ominous clouds made their appearance in the east, and the weather cooled down considerably; as the last guests drove off, we just had time to bring the left over food in, stack the chairs and place the tables before it started to rain again. It could not have been timed any better! Mother Rivier was surely watching over us!
