CELEBRATION OF THE GOLDEN JUBILEES IN PRINCE ALBERT, CANADA

On July 19th, 2015, a festive atmosphere filled the air at the convent of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in Prince-Albert, SK. Sister Beverly Pillar and Sister Anita Verley celebrated 50 years of fidelity to the Lord in Religious Life. They were surrounded by their Sisters as well as by members of their family. We were happy to celebrate together the precious gift of our call to follow Christ in consecrated life.

The theme chosen for this celebration was 'The Light of Faith'. At the beginning of the Eucharistic Celebration, three candles were lit by the Jubilarians: the first candle commemorated with gratitude the past with its years of generous service; the second candle honored the present which continues to be lived with passion; the third candle symbolized their desire to embrace the future with hope.

It was with joy that we celebrated the Mass of Thanksgiving, presided by His Excellency Bishop Albert Thévenot, M.Afr., the bishop of the diocese of Prince Albert. Joyous hymns, led by Sister Emma Rousseau, had been chosen to express our total gift to the Lord in consecrated life. During the Celebration, the Jubilarians renewed their vows of fidelity and self-gift to the Lord.

In his homily, the Celebrant congratulated the Jubilarians and thanked them for their 50 years of service to the community, the Church and the whole world. He said that "as daughters of Marie Rivier, you were courageous, you left everything to follow Christ, you chose this pathway and you committed yourself to follow it totally. May the light of Hope never die out in you. "

The celebration continued with a festive banquet in a wonderful family spirit. This was followed by the opening of gifts. To underline the life of the Jubilarians, we assembled in the Community Room to watch a delightful power-point highlighting the main events in their life, from Baptism to this great day. The Hymn of the Magnificat and the recitation of the rosary closed the day, reminding us all of Mary's key role in our continued journey of consecrated life.

MAGNIFICAT! CONGRATULATIONS!
