TO ALL THE SISTERS OF THE PRESENTATION OF MARY
AND THEIR ASSOCIATES

Today November 21st, the sisters are celebrating the feast day of the Presentation of Mary in the Temple. May Mary accompany you as you celebrate the beauty and joy of Mary’s consecration to the Lord.

When Mary was about three years old, her parents Joachim and Anne brought her to the temple to be consecrated to God. Mary climbed the stairs of the Temple with joy, and never looked back.

In 1796, Marie Rivier and her four companions decided to found a community during the French Revolution in the village of Thueyts, Ardèche, France. Their desire was to make Jesus Christ known and loved.

It was M. Pontanier, Marie Rivier’s director, who agreed that Marie Rivier choose the feast of November 21st, the Presentation of Mary in the Temple because of her great love of Mary.

It was on this Marian feast day that with great joy Marie Rivier and her four companions offered themselves to God and to the education of youth. Once the new Congregation was founded, it grew to serve nineteen countries around the world. In Canada, the first community was founded in 1853 in Marieville, Quebec and in 1903, Duck Lake, Saskatchewan.

MARY IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE OUR MOTHER
