Finding God in all things
Many of us have heard about mindfulness before. Mindfulness is being fully aware of whatever is happening, of one’s own experience and living in the here and now, without filters or the lens of judgment.
We are used to the reproach (whether from ourselves or others!) “pay attention!” but mindfulness requires even more. According to the author Jon Kabat-Zinn, there are seven attitudes one needs to cultivate in mindfulness:
Non-judging (of the experience)
Patience (allowing things to unfold in their own time)
Beginner’s Mind (see everything as if for the first time)
Trust (in yourself, your feelings and intuitions)
Non-striving (for results; be yourself; non-doing)
Acceptance (see things as they really are in the present without resistance or denial)
Letting Go (no prolonging / holding on to an experience)
If God is…If God is in all things, then we don’t need to reshape our experiences, our feelings into something more acceptable to the outside world or our judging minds. It is better to be whole and real, rather than good and right. If God is within us and all around us, God is already in our present experience, regardless of whether it is one we want or not. There is no meaning or judgment to attach to it, because it is already sacred ground. It is a mystery to be explored and lived.
From the burning bush, Moses heard God say, “ I AM WHO AM.”
Let us allow God to be without our resisting, controlling or even grasping and trying to keep God in our experience the same.
Let us welcome our experiences as messengers from God, visitors and guides from beyond.
“Speak…your servant is listening.”

Interesting reflection. Oh that we could delve into those attitudes more and more. Thanks for those words of wisdom....
